The IMSU admission list for 2026/2027 has been reported as available on JAMB CAPS. A merit-list report published by Myschool on 18 August 2026 points applicants to their admission records. To confirm whether Imo State University, Owerri has offered you a place, check your own CAPS result rather than relying on that general report or another candidate’s screenshot.
Last updated: 9 October 2026. Some public IMSU admission pages still display 2025/2026 information. Treat those as older-session pages unless the university provides a current notice or result covering your intake. A reported merit release does not confirm that all batches are available.
IMSU admission list: report and individual confirmation
The current release report is useful as a reason to check your account. However, it is secondary reporting, and it does not establish a personal offer, a university acceptance-fee amount or a complete timetable for additional batches.
Your result should identify the institution, proposed programme and admission status. Read all three before taking action. A candidate offered a different programme needs to understand that proposal, while a candidate with no current offer needs to review the application record.

There is no need to wait for a downloadable PDF before checking an individual CAPS record. Likewise, appearing in an unofficial list does not replace the official offer or the acceptance process.
How to check the IMSU admission list on JAMB CAPS
Open the official JAMB eFacility portal. Sign in with your registered email address and profile password. Make sure the account belongs to the applicant whose result you intend to check.
- Choose Check Admission Status from the profile services.
- Select your examination year and supply your JAMB registration number where required.
- Open Access my CAPS.
- Select Admission Status in the CAPS menu.
- Compare the institution and programme with your application.
- Read the status and follow the current response instructions if an offer appears.

If you cannot sign in, use the official password-recovery option or appropriate JAMB support. Do not create a second applicant’s profile simply to check the same application, and do not send your password to a person offering an unofficial admission service.
What the IMSU admission messages mean
Admitted shows an available offer. Read the institution and course, then complete the required JAMB response if you want the place.
Admission in Progress shows a pending stage rather than a final offer. It does not guarantee admission. Review result uploads and any transfer proposal when your record needs attention.
Not Admitted means there is no current offer on the selected record. Confirm your examination year and application details. If the school shows an offer but CAPS does not, ask admissions staff about the recommendation and approval stages.
Checking information on the IMSU website
Use the official IMSU admissions page to locate university information. Then check that any announcement, application service or result applies to 2026/2027 and to your admission route.
The public page currently contains older undergraduate information and general application labels. A button labelled Check Admission Status is not enough to establish a working current-session checker or a particular set of login fields.
If a control does not open an actual checking service, return to your CAPS record and follow a specific university notice. Do not assume that you need a PIN, scratch card or payment simply because an older online guide described one.
Keep undergraduate UTME, Direct Entry, JUPEB, continuing-education and postgraduate services separate. A result from one route cannot establish admission through another. For example, an application acknowledgement for a preparatory programme is not an undergraduate offer in CAPS.
When contacting university admissions staff, use contact information supplied through a current official notice or functioning university service. A placeholder phone number on a general page should not be treated as an admissions helpline.
How to accept or reject an IMSU offer
If the record shows Admitted, read the course carefully and decide whether to take the place. Follow JAMB’s current acceptance instructions, including any confirmation method displayed for your profile. Afterwards, check that the response is recorded.
Do not accept a course without understanding it simply because a group-chat administrator says the name can easily be changed later. A proposed programme affects what you will study and the requirements you must satisfy.
Similarly, do not use rejection as a way to refresh CAPS or chase another course. If the offer appears incorrect, clarify the issue before submitting a response you do not intend. Keep a copy of the result and your confirmation.
Once accepted, print the JAMB admission document available through the official service. Then follow IMSU’s current instruction for any university admission letter, acceptance payment or clearance document. The two institutions’ records should describe the same applicant and offer.
What if IMSU offers a different course?
A proposal may appear under Transfer Approval before a final admission offer. Read the proposed course and check its requirements, then decide whether you want to accept the transfer.
A transfer response is not the same action as accepting a final admission offer. Return to Admission Status after responding to check whether an offer has become available. Keep both stages clear when asking for help.
If the course shown by the school differs from CAPS, save evidence of the discrepancy and ask admissions staff for clarification. Do not edit an admission screenshot or register for a programme solely because someone says the records will automatically reconcile.
Why your name may not appear yet
A general merit-list report does not mean every applicant has an offer. First, make sure you selected the correct examination year and used your own registration number. Then review the application information rather than treating another person’s result as evidence about yours.
Confirm that your O’level grades and subjects meet the programme’s requirements. Also check that JAMB has the results on CAPS. Attaching results to a school application and uploading them to JAMB are separate steps.
Review the screening submission, institution choice and programme record. If an application was not fully submitted or qualifications need verification, the issue must be addressed through the appropriate official service. Payment alone does not prove a completed application.
JAMB advises candidates with mismatched school and CAPS results to check the institution’s recommendation and any pending transfer offer. Ask IMSU about a school-side discrepancy with your own evidence, rather than paying a third party to “activate” admission.

Merit, second and supplementary IMSU admission lists
Use the batch name and session in the relevant announcement. A merit release establishes a stated selection stage; it does not by itself confirm a second, third or final list.
A supplementary admission application is also different from a supplementary list of offered candidates. Being allowed to apply for a programme does not mean a place has already been granted. Check what the notice actually invites applicants to do.

What follows an IMSU admission offer?
After completing the required CAPS response, read the university’s current clearance and registration instructions. Prepare your JAMB documents, school results, identification and any additional credentials specified for your route.
Direct Entry candidates should also prepare the qualifying certificates, statements of results or verification evidence required for that application. Check that names and other identifying details agree across the documents before attending clearance.
Confirm each payment through the university’s approved instructions and invoice. This admission-list article does not establish a current acceptance fee, tuition amount or hostel charge. An older figure or a generic application fee is not proof of the charge due from a newly admitted student.
Finally, complete clearance, student registration and course registration in the stated order. Follow the actual resumption notice and check accommodation separately. Keep copies of receipts and completed forms; an admission offer does not complete these stages automatically.

Is the IMSU admission list for 2026/2027 out?

Must I download a PDF before checking my admission?
No. You can check your individual CAPS record directly. Use a university PDF only when its session, admission route and instructions match your application.
Does a university application receipt prove admission?
No. It records an application or payment stage. An actual offer must be shown in the relevant admission record, and the required acceptance and registration steps still follow.
Is a transfer response the same as accepting admission?
No. Transfer Approval concerns a proposed course change. Return to Admission Status afterwards and complete the response required for any final offer.
When will IMSU release another batch?
Use an official date for the 2026/2027 intake if one is announced. A merit report does not establish a fixed second- or third-batch timetable.
