Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai has a current 2026/2027 screening service, but its public admission checker still carries a 2025/2026 label. Screening availability is not confirmation that every current admission batch has been released.
Last updated: 9 October 2026. IBBU and IBBUL refer to the same university in Lapai. Check the session attached to each result, and distinguish your screening status from an actual provisional admission offer.
IBBUL admission list and the current portal labels
The university’s website announces a Post-UTME and Direct Entry screening portal for 2026/2027. Its services also include separate pages for screening status and admission status. These labels describe different records, so one should not be used as a substitute for the other.
The screening-status page identifies 2026/2027 and asks for a JAMB registration number. The admission-status page is indexed with a UTME/DE 2025/2026 heading. If that older heading remains when you open it, do not interpret its result as proof of a 2026/2027 offer.

A current school list or account result must identify the correct intake. A copyright year, homepage announcement or successful screening payment cannot establish a candidate’s admission by itself.
How to use the IBBUL admission-status checker
Open the university’s official admission-status checker. Read its academic-session heading before entering your JAMB UTME or Direct Entry registration number.
- Confirm that the service applies to the session you are checking.
- Enter the registration number linked to your application, without extra spaces.
- Use the status-checking control and wait for the result.
- Compare any offer with your registered name and proposed programme.
- Read the acceptance or registration instructions attached to the result.
- Save the result for your own records when the session is correct.
If the page still displays 2025/2026, use CAPS to check the current application and follow the university’s notice for the updated school route. Do not change a year in an old result screenshot or assume that an earlier-session match has carried forward.
The services require JavaScript. If only a blank page or a message asking you to enable it appears, allow JavaScript in a current browser and try the page again. A page that has not loaded has not issued an admission decision.
Screening status is different from admission status
A screening record concerns the application checks undertaken by IBBUL. A provisional admission record concerns the offer of a place. Even where the two services use the same JAMB number, the results answer different questions.
Therefore, keep your application acknowledgement and screening result as evidence of the completed stages. However, do not call a screening confirmation an admission letter or pay acceptance charges solely because your screening record is complete.
The university’s general admission guidance says applicants must satisfy its entrance requirements and any additional faculty or departmental conditions. It also requires offered candidates to present certificates and supporting evidence for scrutiny. Completing the online stage does not remove those checks.
If you applied through Direct Entry, confirm that the qualification supporting that route was supplied and any required verification completed. A UTME-only result or another applicant’s screening slip cannot replace your own DE record.
How to check IBBUL admission on JAMB CAPS
Visit the official JAMB eFacility portal and sign in with the email address and password for your registered profile. Keep your login details private when seeking help.
- Open Check Admission Status in your profile.
- Select your examination year and enter your JAMB registration number where requested.
- Choose Access my CAPS.
- Open Admission Status from the CAPS menu.
- Read the university, programme and admission message carefully.
- Follow JAMB’s current response instructions when an offer is available.

Use the examination year attached to your own application. The older year in an internal guide’s address does not change the year you should select in JAMB.
Accepting an offer or a proposed course change
When CAPS shows Admitted, compare the institution and course with what you intend to accept. Follow the confirmation method displayed by JAMB, then check that the response has been recorded before treating acceptance as complete.
If another course is proposed under Transfer Approval, read the new programme and its requirements first. Decide whether you want that course before responding. Afterwards, return to Admission Status to check for the final offer; a transfer response alone is not the final admission acceptance.
A rejection is a decision about the offer shown. Do not choose it merely to refresh a page or because someone in a group chat says it will speed up a different offer. Seek clarification first if the institution or programme is unexpected.
After acceptance, obtain the JAMB admission document and any separate university document requested for registration. A payment receipt, screening acknowledgement and admission letter are different records.
What if your IBBUL record still says Not Admitted?
The message means there is no current offer on the record being viewed. It does not identify a single cause, and it does not prove that a later batch will include you. Review the application rather than relying only on repeated refreshes.
Start with the session, registration number, institution choice and selected programme. Next, check that your subjects and grades meet the applicable requirements and that your O’level results are uploaded to JAMB. A school upload and a CAPS upload are separate tasks.
Also confirm that the screening application reached the university. Paying a charge without completing the required submission can leave an application incomplete. Check the acknowledgement or screening record rather than assuming payment completed everything.
Where the university has shortlisted you but CAPS has not changed, JAMB advises checking result uploads, the university’s recommendation and any pending transfer offer. Contact admissions staff with your own application evidence when the records remain inconsistent.

Merit and supplementary IBBUL admission lists
A merit list describes a stated selection stage; a supplementary list describes another selection exercise announced by the university. Neither term gives a universal timetable for all institutions or all applicants.
For 2026/2027, use the batch title and release date in a session-specific IBBUL notice. Older first, second or third batch reports cannot establish what has been released for the current intake. A screening announcement is also not a release notice.
If no final offer is available, keep checking official updates without assuming a particular next-batch date. You can compare other institutions through our admission list updates, but make decisions using offers that actually appear on your records.
Registration after IBBUL admission
Read the current university instructions before paying acceptance or registration charges. This guide does not confirm a 2026/2027 acceptance fee or tuition amount. An older fee figure must not be treated as an invoice for the new intake.
Prepare the credentials requested for scrutiny, including your school results and JAMB documents. Direct Entry applicants should also prepare their qualifying certificates or statements of results and any required supporting evidence.
Check that names, dates and other identifying information agree across the records. When something differs, ask what correction or supporting document is required before making an unnecessary trip. Keep copies of the offer, receipts and completed clearance forms.
Then follow the university’s sequence for clearance, school fees, student registration and course registration. Confirm resumption and accommodation information separately. Admission does not automatically allocate a hostel place or complete registration for you.

Follow a date announced by the university for 2026/2027. This update does not establish a fixed next-batch date or guarantee another list for every remaining applicant.
