The COOU admission list can be checked through the university’s prospective-student portal and JAMB CAPS. Search using your own JAMB registration number, then verify the course and session before accepting an offer. COOU is Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, formerly called Anambra State University or ANSU.

What is confirmed about the COOU admission list?
COOU has published information for its 2026/2027 admission exercise, and its official portal provides an admission status service for prospective students. However, we did not verify a current university announcement stating that every undergraduate batch for this session has been released.
Therefore, the practical test is your individual result on the university portal and JAMB CAPS. A session listed on a form, an open application page or a report from another candidate does not confirm an offer for your registration number.
Also, distinguish an application notice from an admission list. The first invites eligible candidates to apply; the second records offers after consideration. Completing a screening form does not guarantee a place, even if you meet the basic application requirements.
Use current COOU notices when checking deadlines. Historical ANSU or COOU lists for 2023/2024 or 2025/2026 do not describe the progress of a 2026/2027 application. If you see a forwarded list, confirm its academic session before relying on it.
Check through the university’s prospective-student portal
Open the official COOU prospective-student portal. The admission checking service uses your JAMB number to identify your record.
- Find Check Admission Status on the prospective-student page.
- Read the session information or select your application session if the form asks for it.
- Enter your JAMB registration number in the JAMB NO field.
- Choose Confirm Status to request the result.
- Read the candidate name, programme and any instructions displayed.
- Save the result and compare it with JAMB CAPS.
The portal uses JavaScript. If the page appears empty, check that your browser allows the site to run normally, then try a current browser or another connection. A page that fails to load does not establish that the university rejected your application.
COOU also has application and student login pages. These do different jobs. If you only want an admission result, start with the prospective-student checking service. After admission, use the account activation or verification instructions supplied by the university.
If the number produces no matching record, compare every character with your JAMB slip. Next, check the session and application type. Do not repeatedly create new profiles to repair a typing error or a missing result.
For a name mismatch, save the displayed result and ask the university’s admissions staff to review it. Your supporting documents should explain which record belongs to you. Never alter an admission letter or qualification document to make it match a portal entry.
How to check the COOU admission list on JAMB CAPS
Sign in through the official JAMB eFacility portal. Use your JAMB profile email and password rather than your COOU applicant login.
- Open Check Admission Status after signing in.
- Select the correct examination year and confirm the registration number.
- Choose Access my CAPS.
- Open Admission Status and read the offer shown.
- Check the university name and programme carefully.
- Follow the current JAMB acceptance process if you wish to take the offer.
After completing the acceptance action, check that JAMB records your decision. If the service requests a further confirmation step, follow the instructions displayed for your account. Do not use an unverified SMS command copied from an old article.
If CAPS is difficult to navigate on your phone, enable desktop view and check the side menu again. You may need to scroll horizontally. For account access help, use our JAMB portal login guide and select the year that belongs to your application.
School admission and JAMB approval
A university may select or recommend a candidate before the final offer appears in CAPS. Therefore, a school result and a CAPS message can temporarily differ. Keep evidence of both results and check your qualifications and upload records.
Admitted means an offer appears in your JAMB record. Read the course before accepting. If it differs from your original choice, decide whether you want that programme and confirm any required course change.
Admission in Progress means processing has not yet produced a final offer in the account. It is not a promise and does not establish a “90% chance” of admission. Continue checking while the exercise is active.
Not Admitted means no offer currently appears. The university may still be processing applications, but a later offer is not certain. Review your application instead of assuming that every pending candidate will enter a supplementary batch.
Transfer Approval relates to a proposed change of programme. Read the proposed course and its requirements before responding. Then return to Admission Status, because accepting a transfer proposal does not finish the admission acceptance process.
If the difference between the school and JAMB records persists, contact COOU’s admissions office with your JAMB number and saved result. Avoid paying someone who promises to bypass the official recommendation and approval process.
Merit and supplementary batches
The COOU admission list may be updated in stages. A merit batch generally refers to an initial selection, while later offers may cover further candidates or vacancies. However, there is no reliable rule that COOU must publish exactly three batches.
Likewise, we have not verified a fixed date for a second, third or final 2026/2027 list. Check current university notices and your personal result. A publication from a previous session cannot supply a release date for the present one.
If a PDF becomes available, use the file supplied by the university and compare both name and registration number. Candidates can share similar names. A screenshot that crops out the session or issuing source gives too little information to establish a valid offer.

What to review when no offer appears
First, confirm that your university screening application is complete. Check the acknowledgment slip and any payment receipt already issued. A successful payment alone may not mean that you finished and submitted the application form.
Next, verify your institution choice in JAMB. If you changed to COOU, confirm that the updated choice appears correctly. Also, compare the course in your application with the one in JAMB so that you can identify a mismatch early.
Then, check the O’level results in CAPS. Results uploaded to a university application do not automatically transfer to JAMB. Use an accredited JAMB centre for a missing upload and check the account again afterwards.
Review the relevant subjects and credits for your programme as well. A candidate can meet a university’s general application score yet miss a particular course requirement. Available spaces and the university’s selection process also affect admission.
Direct Entry applicants should check their qualification details and any verification required from the awarding institution. If a record is missing, ask the appropriate institution how to resolve it rather than waiting for a list alone to fix the issue.

What follows a successful COOU offer?
Verify the course and complete JAMB acceptance first. Print your JAMB admission letter when the accepted offer becomes available for printing. Also, keep the university result or offer notice for the next registration stage.
Next, read COOU’s current instructions for acceptance payment and student account verification. Use the official amount, invoice and deadline for your intake. We have not confirmed a current acceptance fee in this update, so an amount from an older guide should not determine your payment.
Prepare the original documents and photocopies requested for clearance. Keep admission letters, qualification records, your application slip and receipts together. If names or course details differ, ask admissions staff about the correction before registering courses.
Finally, confirm your assigned campus, faculty instructions and the approved resumption notice. Do this before booking accommodation or travelling. Completing acceptance payment does not automatically finish clearance, tuition payment or course registration.
Frequently asked questions
Are ANSU and COOU different universities?
The ANSU name on older admission guides refers to the university now called Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University. Use COOU’s current official notices and confirm the session on each document.
Can I check with my name only?
The prospective-student status service uses a JAMB number. If a university PDF is available, you can search a name there, but compare the registration number too before treating a match as your offer.
Is a school offer enough to finish admission?
You still need to check JAMB CAPS and complete the university’s registration requirements. Resolve any mismatch between the two records with COOU’s admissions office.
Will a later batch include everyone not yet admitted?
No. A later batch depends on actual university decisions and available places. Neither an application payment nor Admission in Progress guarantees a later offer.
Why does the portal page fail to display?
The site needs JavaScript and a working connection. Try a supported browser and check the correct portal page. If the problem continues, ask university ICT staff for help rather than interpreting a loading error as an admission decision.
