Check the BUK admission list for 2026/2027 through your personal JAMB CAPS record and Bayero University Kano’s official applicant services. Confirm the institution and programme offered, respond to the approved offer and follow the university’s instructions for clearance and registration.
This guide covers UTME and Direct Entry checking, merit and later batches, pending statuses, course transfers and the steps after admission. Keep your registration number and application details ready. A screening receipt or another candidate’s offer cannot establish your own admission.
How to Check the BUK Admission List on JAMB CAPS
JAMB’s Central Admissions Processing System, commonly called CAPS, shows the approved undergraduate offer for your application. Use the profile attached to that application.
- Open the official JAMB e-Facility portal.
- Sign in using your registered email address and password.
- Select Check Admission Status from the dashboard.
- Choose the correct examination year and provide your JAMB registration number where requested.
- Open Access my CAPS, then Admission Status.
- Review the course, institution and decision before responding to an offer.
If the menu is hidden on your phone, try Desktop site or rotate the screen. Follow the admission-status labels displayed in your own account if its layout differs from an older screenshot.
Check the year carefully when a profile contains an earlier application. An old offer does not establish your current outcome. Save useful confirmation records and obtain the admission letter required for registration.

BUK Admission List: Checking Your University Records
The official 2026 BUKAT login is the UTME screening route. Its public form asks for your UTME number and UTME score. Use the number and score on your own JAMB record.
- Open the current BUKAT page for your application year.
- Enter your UTME registration number.
- Enter the UTME score requested by the form.
- Sign in and review the screening record and instructions available to you.
- Check CAPS separately for the approved admission offer.
The portal currently states that BUKAT registration is closed. An existing candidate login is not an invitation to start a new screening application after closure. Follow any further university notice about your own record.
BUKAT is a screening service. Do not mistake a completed application or acknowledgement slip for an admission letter. For the university’s offer documents and fresh-student registration, follow the service named in the relevant official notice.
Also check the year in a saved bookmark. A genuine university page for an earlier exercise may still be accessible. Our BUK Post-UTME guide provides related information about the screening stage.
Direct Entry Candidates
BUK’s Direct Entry screening service, BUKDES, is separate from BUKAT. Its public guidance uses the DE number, state of origin and gender for login. Therefore, use the route for your entry category instead of entering a DE number into the UTME-score form.
Review the profile, O’Level results and relevant A’Level or other entry qualifications required for your programme. Complete each submission and retain the acknowledgement. A payment stage alone does not establish that the application was submitted.
Then check the JAMB profile attached to the Direct Entry application for the approved offer. A school screening record and CAPS perform different tasks, so follow both sets of instructions that apply to you.
BUK Admission List: Merit, First and Subsequent Batches
A batch describes a release of offers, while CAPS shows the outcome for one candidate. Check your account and university notices for additions rather than relying on a social-media message about a numbered batch.
Applicants can receive decisions at different times. A friend’s successful result does not prove that every candidate in the department has been admitted. If your own offer is approved, review it promptly instead of waiting for a forwarded PDF.
For a list document published by the university, first read the academic session and programme heading. Next, search your registration number with Ctrl + F on a computer or Find in page on a phone. Compare the course and identifying details.
A matching name alone can be misleading when applicants have similar names. Likewise, an authentic list from an earlier session cannot establish a current offer.
What Does the BUK Merit Admission List Mean?
Merit concerns the basis of selection. It is not automatically another name for the first batch. Programme requirements, scores, selection categories and available places all form part of the process.
Meeting a general application minimum allows consideration for the relevant stage. It does not guarantee a place in a particular programme. Compare the requirements for your course and entry route before interpreting your result.
Understanding Your BUK Admission Status
Admission in Progress
Admission in Progress is a positive sign that your application is moving through the admission process. Prepare your records and continue checking for an approved offer. Follow acceptance instructions once the offer is confirmed.
For a pending record, JAMB’s support guidance identifies O’Level results, the institution’s recommendation and unaccepted transfer proposals as checks to make. Focus on any unresolved requirement instead of assuming every record changes within the same number of days.
Not Admitted
Your profile currently has no approved offer. First confirm the year and candidate details. Then check application completion, required uploads and any proposed course change. Continue following official instructions while processing continues.
Admitted
An offer is available for review. Check the course and institution carefully, decide whether you intend to take the place and complete the response procedure. Keep the confirmation and required admission documents.
Why Your Name May Be Missing
A missing offer can have several causes. Start with the parts of your record you can confirm, rather than assuming a high score guarantees admission or that selection is random.
- Confirm the examination year and JAMB registration number.
- Check that the school application was submitted, rather than only paid for.
- Confirm the relevant O’Level upload on JAMB and the university records required for screening.
- Compare your subject combination and qualifications with the programme requirements.
- Review a course-transfer proposal awaiting your response.
- Report a specific difference between school and JAMB records through the appropriate office.
UTME and Direct Entry candidates should use the requirements for their own route. Selection categories and available places also matter. However, state of origin alone does not establish why a particular candidate’s offer is missing.
For a BUKAT registration issue, the portal publishes bukat.registration@buk.edu.ng as its help contact. Describe the error and provide the relevant application reference. Keep your account password private.
How to Accept BUK Admission
JAMB’s published acceptance procedure includes sending ACCEPT or REJECT to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your profile. An accredited CBT centre or JAMB office can assist with access and verification issues.
After responding, confirm that the decision was recorded. If CAPS proposes another programme through Transfer Approval, read the course before agreeing. Accepting that transfer enables further processing; responding to the eventual admission offer is a separate step.
Next, follow BUK’s institutional instructions for acceptance and fresh-student registration. Generate any required payment form through the designated university service and retain the receipt. An earlier screening payment should not be mistaken for a later registration bill.
After BUK Admission: Clearance, Fees and Resumption
Prepare the documents requested in the current fresh-student notice. These cover academic qualifications, admission records and identification, with relevant additional entry qualifications for DE applicants. Follow the exact format and copy requirements issued by the university.
Compare names, registration numbers and programme details across your records. Raise a mismatch through the appropriate office before clearance. Present originals where required; paying a bill does not replace academic verification.
Obtain the JAMB admission letter and follow the university’s arrangements for its own admission documents. If a document-printing service is temporarily unavailable, follow the official service notice and support instructions. Do not pay an agent for an unofficial replacement.
Then complete fee payment and course registration in the stated order. Use the invoice for your programme, level and student category. Retain the completed registration records, payment references and receipts.
Accommodation needs a separate allocation and payment arrangement. An admission offer does not automatically secure a hostel bed. Finally, check the university timetable and our BUK resumption guide before planning travel.
BUK Admission List FAQs
Does a BUKAT Acknowledgement Confirm Admission?
No. It records a screening stage. You still need the approved offer and must complete acceptance and registration.
Can Direct Entry Applicants Check CAPS?
Yes. Use the profile attached to the DE application and follow the university’s separate Direct Entry instructions.
Do I Need a PDF Before Accepting?
No. Review your approved personal offer and follow the university’s instructions. A downloaded list does not replace the required admission documents.
Can I Use an Earlier BUKAT Portal?
Use the service for your application year. An old screening page cannot establish your current admission outcome.
Conclusion
Check the BUK admission list through your own CAPS record and review the university instructions for your entry route. Complete acceptance, clearance and registration after an approved offer. Browse our admission-list guides for related updates.
