OAU Admission List 2026/2027: Latest Update and How to Check

Last updated: 10 October 2026.

An official release notice for the OAU admission list for 2026/2027 could not be confirmed as of 10 October 2026. If you applied to Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, check JAMB CAPS to see whether you have received an offer. A Post-UTME result or screening score alone does not mean you have been admitted.

When an offer appears, check the course before accepting it. You will also need to follow OAU’s instructions for admission documents, clearance and registration. If CAPS shows admission but the school portal has not updated, OAU says its Admissions Office must first download the new record for processing.

Is the OAU admission list out for 2026/2027?

A current official list-release announcement has not been verified for this update. There is also no confirmed date here for a first, second or third batch. This does not tell us whether a particular applicant has an offer; you need to check your own CAPS record.

OAU’s official notice of 28 August 2026 moved the in-person Post-UTME screening to 25–30 September 2026 and extended registration to 23 September 2026. Both dates have passed. That notice concerns screening, so it should not be presented as an admission-list announcement.

If you have checked your screening result, the next question is whether you have been offered a place. Keep your result slip, but look for the admission decision on CAPS and the university portal. These records serve different stages of the application.

How to check the OAU admission list on JAMB CAPS

Open the JAMB eFacility portal and sign in with the email address and password linked to your JAMB profile. CAPS is the Central Admissions Processing System, where you can view your admission status.

  1. Sign in to your JAMB eFacility account.
  2. Select Check Admission Status.
  3. Choose the examination year for your application and enter your JAMB registration number if requested.
  4. Open Access my CAPS, then select Admission Status.
  5. Read the status, institution and course displayed.
  6. If an offer is available, follow the current JAMB instructions for responding to it.

If you are using a phone and cannot see the menu, switch your browser to desktop-site view. Then reopen Admission Status. A welcome screen or a page that fails to load does not show your admission outcome.

Forgotten your password? Use the account-recovery option rather than creating another profile. Our JAMB portal login guide explains the account-access steps. Keep your registration slip nearby so you can check the number and examination year.

How to check your status on the OAU portal

OAU provides a provisional admission-status checker. Have your JAMB registration slip ready before opening it. The form asks for a year and your registration number.

  1. Open the university’s admission-status page.
  2. Enter the year specified in the OAU instructions for the admission you are checking.
  3. Enter your JAMB registration number exactly as it appears on your slip.
  4. Submit the form and read the response.
  5. If admission is shown, check your name and course, then save the result and any instructions attached to it.

The e-portal homepage still labels its undergraduate checking link 2024/2025. If you are applying for 2026/2027, do not treat that older label as a current release notice. Where the year to enter is unclear, obtain OAU’s current instructions before relying on a result from that form.

The Post-UTME portal is a separate service. OAU’s current screening notice names eportal2.oauife.edu.ng/ug/admissions and gives the JAMB number and registration password as its login details. Use that service for screening information; use CAPS and the admission checker to look for an offer.

CAPS shows admission, but the OAU portal has not updated

OAU explains that its Admissions Office downloads newly admitted candidates’ records from CAPS before processing them on the e-portal. The school record may therefore update after the CAPS record. The university does not give a fixed waiting period in that message.

Keep a copy of your CAPS result and check the OAU portal again. If the difference persists, contact the university’s admissions support with your JAMB number and the exact response shown. A clear description of the problem is more useful than saying only that the portal is not working.

A different course needs attention too. Compare the two results and check whether CAPS contains a course-transfer proposal. Do not pay for registration into a course you have not understood or agreed to. Our school admission-status guide explains how to compare school and JAMB results.

What your admission status means

Admitted

An offer is available for the institution and course shown. Read the details, decide whether you want the place and complete JAMB’s acceptance procedure. Afterwards, confirm that your response has been recorded and obtain the admission letter required for registration.

Admission in Progress

Your admission is still being processed. This is not a final offer, and there is no reliable percentage chance or automatic number of days before it changes. Keep checking while processing continues and deal with any outstanding instruction on your record.

Not Admitted

No offer currently appears on the record you checked. The message does not explain the reason. Check your application and results before concluding that an error or a particular admission rule caused it.

What to check if you have not received an offer

Start with your O’Level results on CAPS. Confirm that the subjects, grades and examination details are correct. Uploading results to the university’s screening form does not automatically mean they are on JAMB’s record. If a result is missing, visit an accredited JAMB CBT centre and check the upload afterwards.

Next, review your screening application and the requirements for the course. A minimum score makes you eligible for consideration; it does not guarantee selection. Required subjects, screening performance and available places can affect the outcome.

Check Transfer Approval if another course has been proposed. Read the course and respond if you want to be considered for it. Accepting a transfer allows further processing; you still need to check for the final admission offer.

Direct Entry applicants should check the profile linked to their DE application and any outstanding qualification-verification instruction. If the school has recommended you but CAPS has not updated, ask admissions staff about the recommendation and review your result upload. Do not assume every pending applicant has the same problem.

OAU merit, supplementary and later batches

No release date for a later 2026/2027 batch has been verified here. Follow OAU’s announcements for the batch names and dates it actually publishes. A date from an older admission exercise cannot tell you when the present list will appear.

If OAU publishes a PDF, read the session and entry route before searching it. Use your registration number where available, then confirm your name and course. This helps avoid mistaking another applicant with a similar name for yourself.

You do not need to wait for a PDF to check CAPS. If your personal offer appears, review it and follow the relevant acceptance instructions. A later batch is a possibility only where the university’s current announcements support it; nobody can promise that your name will be included.

What to do after OAU offers you admission

First, confirm the course and complete the response required by JAMB. If you cannot complete acceptance, use JAMB support or an accredited CBT centre for help. Keep the acceptance confirmation and print your JAMB admission letter when it becomes available.

Then follow OAU’s fresh-student instructions for the university admission documents and clearance. Gather the academic results, admission records and identification documents requested for your entry route. Direct Entry candidates will also need the relevant qualifying credentials. Compare the names on your documents and raise a mismatch before clearance.

Use the university’s current invoice or payment instructions for acceptance and school charges. A 2026/2027 acceptance-fee amount and deadline were not verified for this update. Check the amount, purpose and deadline before paying, then keep the receipt and portal confirmation.

Clearance, fees and course registration may have separate steps. Follow the order OAU gives you and keep track of anything still outstanding. Arrange accommodation and travel after checking the fresh-student resumption notice; an older hostel-balloting notice for returning students does not apply automatically to you.

Frequently asked questions

Can a Direct Entry applicant check OAU admission on CAPS?

Yes. Use the JAMB profile connected to your Direct Entry application. Follow any separate OAU instructions for checking and verifying your qualifying credentials.

Do I need a public list before accepting an offer?

You can check your personal offer on CAPS without waiting for a PDF. Confirm the course and follow JAMB’s response procedure and OAU’s admission instructions.

Does an older OAU list apply to this admission exercise?

No. A list applies to the academic session named in it. A 2023/2024 or 2024/2025 document does not confirm a 2026/2027 offer.

Should I create a new JAMB profile if I cannot log in?

Use account recovery or JAMB support to regain access to your existing profile. A new account will not solve the admission status of the application linked to the old one.

Does paying an acceptance fee complete registration?

No. Follow the university’s clearance and registration instructions after payment. Keep the receipt, but also complete the document checks and course-registration stages it requires.

Check your CAPS result first, then follow up with OAU where the school record or course differs. Once an offer is confirmed, complete acceptance and prepare the documents needed for clearance. Our Admission Lists section has related updates for other schools.
