The surname option is useful, but it can also return people with similar names. A surname match alone is not enough to confirm admission. The other details on the result still have to match the applicant.

Admission in Progress is still a pending result. It does not come with a reliable 80- or 90-percent chance of admission, and it does not provide a fixed date for the final decision.

If the school and CAPS records show different information, keeping both results makes the issue easier to explain. The institution, programme, session and exact status tell you more than guessing which system will update first.
